Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Mulgrave Primary School

At Mulgrave Primary School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every child has the right to feel safe, secure, and valued—both in school and in the wider world. Keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility, and we work hard to create a culture of vigilance, trust, and care.

What Is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding means protecting children from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation, while supporting their overall wellbeing and development. It also involves creating a safe and supportive environment where children feel confident to speak up if something doesn’t feel right. At Mulgrave, we go beyond basic compliance—safeguarding is an active and ongoing commitment to ensuring all children thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

Our Safeguarding Culture

All children at Mulgrave are expected to be able to name their 5 Trusted Adults—these are the people they know they can go to if they ever feel worried, unsafe, or unsure.

We work closely with a range of trusted partners, including:

  • Growing Against Violence (GAV)
  • NSPCC
  • The Safer Streets Team at the Royal Borough of Greenwich

All staff receive annual safeguarding training, and read at least Part 1 of Keeping Children Safe in Education to ensure they understand their responsibilities and can act on concerns quickly and appropriately.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) meet weekly to review cases, ensure swift action, and reflect on practice to keep children safe.
