Swimming at Mulgrave Primary School
Academic Year 2024 - 25
At Mulgrave, we recognise swimming as a vital life skill that promotes health, confidence, and safety. As part of our commitment to delivering a broad and balanced curriculum, we ensure all pupils receive high-quality swimming instruction in line with the National Curriculum requirements.
The PE programme of study sets out clear expectations for swimming, including:
- Swimming competently, confidently, and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
- Using a range of strokes effectively, such as front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke
- Performing safe self-rescue in a variety of water-based situations
Swimming is a much-loved part of our curriculum, and our pupils approach their lessons with enthusiasm and determination. It’s a chance for them to build resilience, develop physical skills, and grow in self-belief—living out our ethos of Learn, Believe, Succeed.
