Welcome Wednesday – Every Week at 10am! Prospective parents are warmly invited to join us for a guided tour of our school, meet our Senior Leadership Team, and discover our vibrant learning environment. You’ll have the chance to ask questions, see our community in action, and find out what makes Mulgrave the place where “Every child is a success.” If you would like to speak to the SENCO or a member of the Inclusion Team, this can also be arranged as part of your visit.
SEND & Inclusion
At Mulgrave Primary School, inclusion is not an add-on—it’s at the heart of who we are and what we do. Guided by our ethos Every Child a Success, we are deeply committed to ensuring that every learner—regardless of need, background, or starting point—feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.
Our Approach
We believe that all children have the right to a high-quality education that nurtures their strengths and supports their challenges. Our inclusive practice is built on:
- Early identification of needs through robust assessment and close collaboration with families
- Personalised support and learning plans that are regularly reviewed and co-created with parents, carers, and external professionals
- High expectations for all learners, with adaptations that enable access, progress, and achievement
- Staff training and CPD to ensure inclusive teaching is embedded across the curriculum
-
A culture of belonging, where difference is celebrated and every child is valued
Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
Our SEND provision is led by a dedicated Inclusion Team who work closely with class teachers, support staff, and external agencies. We follow the SEND Code of Practice and ensure that all statutory responsibilities are met with care and professionalism. We support children with a wide range of needs, including:
- Communication and interaction
- Cognition and learning
- Social, emotional and mental health
- Sensory and/or physical needs
Our SEND Information Report and Policy outline how we identify, assess, and support children with SEND. These documents are available to download from our website.
Inclusion Beyond SEND
Inclusion at Mulgrave goes beyond special educational needs. We are committed to equity in all its forms—ensuring that every child, regardless of race, gender, faith, disability, or family circumstance, has access to the opportunities, relationships, and resources they need to succeed.
We actively promote:
- Inclusive curriculum design that reflects diverse identities and experiences
- Anti-racist and anti-bullying practice
- Support for children with English as an Additional Language (EAL)
- Targeted interventions to narrow attainment gaps
- Celebration of difference through assemblies, displays, and enrichment activities
Working in Partnership
We know that inclusion works best when it’s a shared endeavour. We value the voices of parents, carers, and children—and we welcome feedback, collaboration, and conversation. If you have questions about SEND or inclusion at Mulgrave, please contact us via the school office.
If you have any concerns about SEND and Inclusion in relation to your child, please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. We’re here to listen, support, and work together to ensure every child learns, believes, and succeeds.
